a-nata

, mfn. [ts], 'not bent', without inclination
(see nati, f.); nibbanatho ~o, SN I 186,26* (= taṇhā-
nati-rahito, Spk) — Th 1214 (reading nibbanathā
avanatho; Th-a: katthaci pi nandiyā (o: natiyā)
abhāvato avanatho (ɔ: anato)). — n. ~aṁ, Ud 80,19*
(duddasaṁ ~aṁ nāma, na hi saccaṁ su-dassanaṁ,
paṭividdhā taṇhā jānato, passato n'atthi kiñcanaṁ);
Ud-a 393,10-16 explains a-nataṁ = a+ natā: rūpā-
disu . . . namanato taṇhā natā nāma, n'atthi ettha
natā ti anataṁ, and continues: Nibbānan ti attho
[omitted in Ee], giving also the (unmetrical) v. r.
an-antaṁ (w. r. an-attaṁ) = anta-virahitaṁ (w. r.
atta-v°) . . . amatan ti attho; keci pana anantan (Ee
w. r. anatan) ti padassa appamāṇan ti atthaṁ vadanti.
Tr. corrects into amataṁ; anataṁ might possibly
represent sa.
an-ṛtaṁ (opposed to saccam, cf. next);
